Jim Gilleran, teacher of dance,
exercise, pantomime and physical comedy, guides his students through
movement with a physical eloquence that makes you laugh and learn.
He holds certificates in Fitness, Ballroom Dancing and has a
Mental-Health Certificate with a specialty in Dance-movement Therapy
from Northeastern Illinois University and Riveredge Hospital. He has
an M.A. in Sociology with a specialty in Gerontology from Roosevelt
University in Chicago.
Jim has traveled to the former Soviet Union to study exercise
programs and lifestyles of centenarians in Azerbijian (Georgia). He
has taught movement therapy and exercise programs at Loretto,
Gottlieb, West Suburban and Loyola Hospitals in the Chicago area.
Jim has also taught classes at Triton College, Dominican University
and University of Illinois, Chicago. He is the former
owner/instructor of two studios—in Oak Park, Illinois and Hilton
Head, South Carolina.
Jim currently teaches at Blue Ridge
Community College. He is director of fitness activities for the
Sammy Williams Center in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
